Vinyasa Krama with Steve Brandon of Harmony Yoga: 21 & 22 April 2012
Vinyasa Krama Yoga uses posture (asana) and breathing (pranayama) combined. With sequenced postures and numerous variations (vinyasa krama) you can learn how to develop the most effective, individual practice. You can then tailor the practice to your own goals while respecting the core principles of Yoga.
The distinctive features of Vinyasa Krama are:
- The integration of movement, breath and attention.
- Its systematic approach to the practice, study and adaptation of Yoga.
- Its faithful adherence to the parameters of practice given in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
- Postures are practised with many sequences and variations (vinyasas).
It comprises the full spectrum of Yoga derived from the teachings of one of the great Yoga masters, Sri T.Krishnamacharya.
Vinyasa Flow with Delamay of Yoga Rhythms: March 2012 (30th March to 1st April 2012)
Vinyasa Flow is a fluid form of yoga, linking poses and sequences with the breath and music. Each workshop session will have a different emphasis e.g. power and softness, back-bending and twisting. Delamay will inspire you to connect deeply with your body through on-going movement (the flow) and the integration of the flow with your breath. These workshops are not suitable for those with significant injuries.
Yoga workshops are held during the year on a regular basis. These will have a specific focus and include:
- Beginners Yoga
Aimed at total beginners to yoga, well as those who would like to refresh their knowledge, or improve their understanding. The workshop will introduce physical poses (asana), breathing practices (pranayama), and guided relaxation (yoga nidra) in a safe and accessible way. - Winter Intensive
A physically challenging yoga workshop, aimed at those who have been practising yoga for at least 6 months and enjoy a strong practice. Pranayama techniques and guided relaxation will also be included.
- Yoga for Runners
Suitable for beginners to yoga as well as those who have been practising for a while. The workshop is aimed at releasing tension in the muscles which become tight in runners and joggers as well as building up core strength and developing a good awareness of alignment.
- Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga
This workshop will introduce you to an outline of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga: an energetic set sequence of poses that is linked together via flowing Sun Salutations. The full Primary series takes 2 hours to complete, is challenging and requires self discipline. You will learn some of the poses from the full Primary Series and receive a handout so you can picture the whole series. This workshop is suitable for beginners to yoga and existing yoga practitioners who would like to try a physically challenging form of yoga. NB this workshop is not suitable for those with significant injuries or health problems.
- Yoga and Mindfulness
These workshops will provide an introduction to the practice of mindfulness, (becoming more fully aware of the present moment), combined with gentle, restorative yoga sequences. The workshops are suitable for beginners and experienced yoga practitioners; injuries and health problems can easily be accommodated but please advise when booking. The aims of the workshop are to help you release physical tension, reduce stress and anxiety and focus your mind.
